This project consists of
3 sets of sliding Shoji doors loosely inspired by a photograph of
my eyeball and which is meant to convey the “looking-out”
feel of this stunning view of the Blue Ridge mountains. The inside
set of doors are made of Curly Shedua and have acrylic shoji panels
that are embossed with a yellow and lavender pattern. The interior
pulls are applied Claro Walnut while the exterior side has recessed
pulls. The doors are flanked by fixed sidelights. The 2nd or main
set of doors are made of African Mahogany with stain, and thermal
pane tempered glass panels. The pulls are made of Cherry. There
are 2 fixed sidelights flanking these doors. The 3rd set of doors
are exterior screen doors made of African Mahogany with copper screening.
Finishes consist of lacquer and exterior varnishes.
